Did any early 69s have 68 style screw on tach and speedo cables ?

The title pretty much says it. One of the guys on another forum says he has a 69 with screw on cables and the gauges are original. Left over 68 gauges installed in an early 69 ??? TIA.

Thanks Michael that does narrow down the chances.

Roger, I'm surprised you're not getting more feedback so far. The following Chev Service News Sept-Oct 1968 issue says: "All passenger cars (except Corvair) incorporate new speedometer cables and fittings. ..... The cable snaps into the speedometer assy. rather than screwing ..... Corvair and Truck retain the conventional cable and connector."

However, an earlier Chev Issue (Aug 1968) of 1969 New Product Training Booklet says the only ones to incorporate the new snap cable are Chevelle, Camaro and Chevy II, and that Chevrolet, Corvair, Corvette, and Truck retain the conventional (screw-in). In my copy of this booklet, someone at the dealer has written corrections, adding Chev passenger and Corvette to the first category.

I realize this is not proof of a production line change, but combined with Michael's post, might give weight to the probability that the new design was effective at SOP for '69 Corvette.

Thanks guys ,I found out the car has a Nov 68 build date. The cluster on this car must have been changed or the guy is not telling me the truth about the screw on cables.
