    C1 Trunk/hinge

My '57 trunk lid sits high (higher than the surrounding bodywork) in the front passenger side, leading edge (corner nearest to passenger). Is there any adjustment to be done on the hinges themselves or is this a shim between body/frame issue (assuming the hinge is ok)? I do not see how shims at that hinge/underside of trunklid junction would help as the whole area seems high. Any tips appreciated.

Stanton - I have the same issue on my '61, only the "high" point is the lower driver's side of the trunk lid. Tried a shim in the upper opposite bracket to no avail. Can this be fixed?

Im trying to remember back to when I restored my 58 , but I think there are some shims underneath the spring towers in the trunk. If you have shims under the passenger side by taking them out it will lower the trunk lid . This will also affect the top hatch at the same time , but if it makes your top hatch to low you can then shim under the hindge on the too low top hatch and raise it up without affecting the trunk lid.

I'm sure there are guys on here who do this on a regular basis and can explain it better than I but I think that is your solution.

If you shim between the hinge and the lid only at the rearward bolt location, it will effectively change the pivot point and bring the front edge of the lid down.
