    72LT-1 AC compressor

What would be the correct numbers, markings etc. on a original AC compressor for my 72 LT-1 Air-cond. car?

I do not think any date/code were actual on the compressor. Given that, the decal should (if still there) have a date code.

There are date codes on the casting at the rear of the compressor, also as I recall, the '72 did not use the superheat switch so that should not be present. The clutch connection on the compressor is "clocked" in a different location on a Corvette than many other applications, so watch that issue also (although a rebuild shop can change the clocking)

Sonny, The compressor part no on label should be 1131002, the dating is done according to you when the car was built,Generally within 4 weeks.

I believe that the was a casted date in the rear of the compressor, maynot be able to see it because of the hose and manifold assy blocks the veiw.

Clup, 1972 WAS the first year for the superheat switch feature. Plus, the rebuilt compressors come in your choice of metric/SAE, with/without superheat switch, and size of pulley.

The Catch-22 issue is IF you order the compressor to be WITH superheat switch, there's NO actual switch installed in the replacement compressor! There's only the provision for mounting the switch and mfgr's expect that you'll remove and transplant the switch from the 'core' you're trading in...

I've seen more than one mechanic 'screw' himself by having the core ready to go when the rebuilt compressor arrives, doing a quickie transfer and then kicking himself because the superheat switch went 'bye bye' with the trade-in core!
