Gentlemen, after looking at the paper element and considering flo etc. it's not an ideal shape for the FI canister. I use the repro air cleaner foam and mist it with K&N oil, has worked perfectly so far, even in a dust storm. Easy to carry a spare ready to go etc. Many Vendors sell it, fits fine. I wash it in water and Dawn Dish Detergent.

James, I bought the Wix filter and put it in my 63 a couple of days ago. The base, the orange part, has an OD larger than the air cleaner but is soft enought to squeeze into the FI air cleaner and I believe it will stay in place by itself. The black cone fits the sheetmetal piece in the front of air cleaner housing. The air filter is maybe recessed an inch into the aircleaner. Cost about $18. Im going to run it for a while and see how it works. Thanks for the informatiion on the filter number. Scott

Scott and others, Stick with the paper element and you will be a happy camper. Now some may think they can improve on this and go out and buy a big buck "paper" element. Not going to knock the brand name here but you know the one. Don't do it. Stick with the el chepo paper one and your old FI will love it.

I imagine by now the repro 63 to 65 FI air cleaner element is fire rated. JD
