My 59 has the Tee-nut, but there are no rivets. The soft top was long gone before I got the car with a Hard top.

Roger, Thanks for the info. Hmmmmm, no rivets on yours either, like on the 59 I'm working on.

Now we need some verification if there are any cars that actually have tee-nuts that are riveted in!

        John H.????
Do you know if these were installed occasionally at the paint shop? If so bonding would have been easier that the drill and rivet method?

          Rich -

Dunno - Production guys will usually seek the easiest way to do things if it works. 931 of the 6,339 57's were hardtop-only cars, so 85% of production required the tee-nuts.

            Gary,
I remember very vaguelly that my '56 Corvette had a tapped hole onto the fiberglass. I don't recall if the top side plate had a hole for a bolt or not. I seem to remember this hole was on one side of the body and not the other. Time frame would be 1958-9. No one knew anything about Covettes and most carel less! I don't recall the threads in the fiberglass had had anything in them and didn't look too permanient to me (easy to pull threads out as I was good at in my early yeas!) Realize your question was about '57 Hardtop Corvettes. Regards, Jim
