    66 heater box

I'm restoring a 66bb that i purchased that had been takenapart before I got it. I'm working on reinstalling heater core and heater box. The prior restorer loved to take things apart but leave no notes on how or what he did. So the heater box is in 4 pieces,

How was the heater box put together? (pictures please) Looks like it could be poprivited or small screws to hold the box together. there would be alot of them (I think he wanted to replace the seals inside).

also when applying the sealer/glue for core any tips or pics would be great
    thanks in advance

    Bill,

I doubt that he undid any of the rivets. Most of the pieces you discuss were screwed back together . Here are some pics of my A/C heater core. aAs you can see, I cheated and used some after market ones .I am pretty sure the originals were Black.

Also there are some goood pics in the Chevrolet Chassis Service Manual , that might help.

Bill Dr Rebuild has a deluxe Heater box rebuild kit with correct rivets and great diagrams. It had been so long since I took mine apart I would have been lost without it.

Bill when I did my 1966 heater box I purchased the rivets at a local ACE hardware store. The rivets were exactly the same as original and came in a clear plastic box. No rivet gun needed the rivets are peened over as original.

I used a rivet-set that I obtained from an aircraft tools supply house. I can not remember the name of the supplier, but I did post it a few years back as a result of the same question. Search the archives for the name.

            Good Luck
