    Good money lost on E-bay

I've made some great buys on e-bay even tho many don't like e-bay . Not to long ago you could contact buyers that were bidding on a part that I knew was not the correct part they were biding on for a 55 , But not now because e-bay changed . So many people lose money on the wrong part , big money.

    Roy,

No disrepect and if i understand you correctly why would you want to get involved into what someone else is trying to buy. There's responsibility on the buyers end as well. Sellers should be portraying the item correctly which we know isn't always the case.....however the potential buyer either needs to be savvy enough or have done their research to know whether the item is applicable or correct to their needs. No need to be a mediator. When I sell on ebay I indicated "do your research before you bid". Ask questions! I won't be responsible for someones lack of research.

What I mean is that people I know by their handle I try to keep from buying the wrong part , and met other good 55 owners by informing them , but now you don't know anyone by a number that changes. If you were with a friend at a swap meet would you let him buy the wrong part if you knew the difference . Seller don't always know what their selling or play dum.

        Roy,

The problem was that too many people were getting ripped off with phony second chance offers. For every good soul like yourself, there are 10 scoundrels.

Roy, Yes I have seen many items like that and see the bids and "cringe" at the bidders saying "no, no, don't do it"! They don't hear me though.

I know that now you cannot contact a member that's bidding due to the "privacy rule" ebay now has. However, what I have done is send a note to the seller. Many times sellers have something they think is the right stuff and described that way. I start of with a simple......"Hi, Just a friendly FYI if you didn't know. Your 1958 to 1962 Decklid that you have listed is actually only for the 61 or 62. You may want to correct the listing with a note and send your bidders a message. Best Regards......Rich"

Most times I get a thank you note and they fix it.

When I don't get a reply and they don't fix it, I add that seller to my NO-NO List !

          Rich

Another example is the Air Cleaner that sold for $1165 and a Paragon part at that. Once there was a good samaritan that told me about one I got being fake where fake is defined as not being what it was sold as. Short story is this guys been doing it for 10 years.
