69 nose support rivets

Was the nose support that goes behind the front bumper and in front of the head light openings riveted on after paint leaving the rivets unpainted? when I removed the rivets there was paint under the heads so i am assuming they were installed after paint. Thanks for any help.

I believe the rivets were installed prior to painting. I don't know why you would find paint under the rivet heads.

Hi Brad,
Here's a picture from my original paint 71.
I believe you can see the paint on the face of the rivet as Joe stated and also the color over-spray on the steel reinforcement itself.
Also note the paint on the rivets and bracket for the upper/outer screw for the right-side grill which must have been installed before painting too.
