    69 Vacuum System

What in the world is the vacuum switch on the tachometer for? I've owned this car for 12 years and am now cleaning it up and learning all kinds of things.
    Thanks

I agree. The solenoid shuts off and bleeds the vacuum going to the wiper door relay telling the door to open.

Thanks guys, but how does the tachometer fit into this picture. The wiper door is controlled by a vacuum switch on the headlight switch and the over-ride. Is this other switch just mounted on the tach for convenience? I haven't got that out of there to see what the connection is.

Just mounted there for convience. Should have two vacuum hoses and one wire attached.

Dick is on the money, again! The tach was simply a convenient location nearby the point of entry through the firewall for the vacuum system's Control Path hose AND not that far from the WSW electrical switch in the center console.
So, that's why the electro-vacuum relay is mounted on the back of the tachometer housing... It has NOTHING to do with the tach!
