Looks a little goofy, but it's an early car in a strange year. I'll vote it's real.

Pat, looks like a fresh stamping not aged as the suffix stamp,and no paint in the vin numbers, the letter S looks to be bigger than the numbers along with the not so straight line of numbers. and the suffix stamp has paint in grooves of the numbers. But I am a rookie.

It is supposed to be a gang stamp but in this case it looks like every one in the gang had a whack at it.
