    Re: Painting my 1967 Roadster

    To everyone...Thanks!

The majority of the feedback is to keep the car Marlboro Maroon. It's a very nice straight car that can be a Top Flight candidate.

I also don't beleive in changing the data plate as it wreaks of fraud in my mind.

I'll continue to ponder, but it looks like it's back to orginal.

By the way, the top is saddle and they didn't offer that in 1967, so I may go to black for the top. Kind of weird, Maroon with Saddle Interior and a Black top????

        glad to hear that, Jerry!

when I decided that I was going to buy a '67 big block convertible myself, I narrowed it down to only two color choices that I wanted: marina blue, or marlboro maroon. (even thought all the colors look great on a '67)

I bought a marina blue one, but still love marlboro maroon.
Good carburetion is fuelish hot air . . .

Jerry - mine was origianally Marlborogh/black & a white top (currently has a black top).....I have photos of it in it's early days with the white top and it looks GREAT.....maybe you can consider this combo with Maroon/Saddle.....just check if was an "allowed" combo if you're going down the Flight path.......Jack H could advise I'm sure......
          Best Regards,
          Gary.

I agree, Marlboro with a white top looks great, and is a valid combination.

Is the correct Marlboro Maroon in 1967 a metallic color?

                Jerry,
Marlboro Maroon does have a slight bit of metallic flake to it. It is a very difficult color to paint correctly, so you might want to look at a few cars before you paint.
FWIW - Marlboro is a great color.

Jerry, consider this: Assuming that "not numbers matching" means not original drivetrain, the target audience for this resale is going to be those who want a nice looking and running car, not an investment. As such, make it nice-looking and running for your driving pleasure, the color you like. If it doesn't need a repaint now, leave it alone. If it does, keep in mind that your repaint money will get you more driving enjoyment out of it until you sell, IF it's the color that excites you. Just my 2 cents.

The shop painting the car is an experieinced painter that many of my friends have used with great satisfaction. I didn't have the codes when I sent my previous e-mail. It is a metallic paint and I'm sure my car will look great. Although my car is not an original "numbers matching" it does have all period correct components.

                    Keep you all posted

                    Thanks

                        Gerald,
Paint the car what ever you like. It is your car. Don't paint the car for the next guy. Let him do that if he wants.

                            Jerry,
Here's one more vote from me.
What's not to like about the Marlboro Maroon and saddle interior color combination. But it is your car and you should paint it what ever color makes you grin from ear to ear when you look at it.
                            Best regards
                            Neal

Here's an update on my 67..at a local show that was held at a minor league ball park. I really enjoy the correct color combination.
