I agree. But heh they throw you "free shippmg". Only making about $12 on the gasket itself! I buy a small fraction of what I used to. Large dealers is the way they are going 'cause its where the money is.

I saw that yesterday and had to laugh my azz off. RockAuto has the same gasket for .63 each. I doubt they are more than $1 at the local NAPA store. Now when I do a search for Corvette parts, the vast majority of listings are either from Summit Racing or from BackOrder Central, I mean Corvette Central.

There have been many complaints about e-bay, and some of them well pointed. But here's the real question...For the greater population is there a better alternative other than Carisle????

Have fun!!!! (I think that's why were here)

My biggest gripe with eBay Motors sellers is the overuse of "NOS" in reference to obvious new items. I doubt the majority of them know what NOS means. To them it's New On Shelf. To carry it a step further many sellers use descriptive terms like L-88, 427, BB, etc in describing common parts that would apply to any Corvette. Naturally the starting price is way over market value. It's deception!

There are still a few good deals on E-Bay from PRIVATE SELLERS but, it's getting harder and the number of items listed is much lower compared to the past few years. I think selling prices are lower than ever and thats why people are holding off on listing items, hoping better time return. Steve

I usually limit my searches to "auctions only", cuts out 90% of the crap.

Search posts, threads form this year. Bonazle is an ebay alternative.

Second, just last week we had some excellent help - there is a thread that shows you how to shut off the spam sellers like Summit Racing and any other vendor you want. That took my single year search from 4400+ down to 1300 parts, which is where it was a year ago.
Zip CCentral and the search drops even more.

I usually keep tabs on the on-line NCRS Driveline, Corvette Forum, Corvette Action Center, swap meets, salvagers as alternatives to eBay. While parts are not as plentiful (and you do come across some gougers) they are good alternative sources. You just learn who the honest ones are who have the real-deal parts. And patience & persistence pays off so you won't be paying $13 for a $1 gasket.

Ditto. And the lack of using the term NOSR. New old stock replacement which today could mean most anything. JD

John I think alot of the Chinese junk would fall into that catagory. Tom
