    Original spare tire and rim?

Need help referencing a 1969 judging manual about wheeles and tires for a friend. Wheel code is K 1 8 5 for May 1968 with a nylon tubless Uniroyal tigerpaw load rang B whitewall F70-15 4 pyl rating 2 ply wide oval.

I think this is a stretch for a valid build date for a 1969 car built in early 1969 but I am not sure about the type of tires that were available for that year. Any help with reference to the judging manual would be appreciated. thanks

May, 1968 is too early under NCRS and NCCB guidelines for a wheel, spare or road, originally installed on an early 1969-built Corvette. Does the wheel have an "AZ" code? If so, it must be one of the earliest "AZ" wheels manufactured.

Some 1969 Corvettes were originally equipped with Uniroyal Tiger Paw tires. However, I do not know if the particular one you have is an assembly-line tire.

You are reading the date code wrong. 8 5 is for Aug 5th which works well for an early 69 car.

Tiger Paw tires were used during this time frame. My 68 came equipped with them and has the side wall lettering as you described.

I'm not the expert but I believe there is one digit missing. If these are the numbers (K 1 8 5) on the left of the valve stem, I believe this decodes to Kelsy Hayes, Romulus plant, '68 (or '78 or '88) May. There should be another digit to the right of the valve stem for the day of the month and as John points out the 2 letter code for the application/size - AZ for '69 and AG for '68. Maybe those who know more will correct me.
