    All most there

A few photos of new paint job on car. Put emblems on today and door handles. Should have it all put together in two weeks. Still have to put in windows, although I like the look without them.

Doing a lot of planning for 48 states trip. Will have approximate state by state schedule next week.

The day was just great here in Maine , hope it is nice where you are

    Jack

Joe, I have posted looking for hood and rear script emblem measurements.

If you could put a tape measure to it. Side of hood emblem to side of hood and bottom of hood emblem to bottom of hood.

Same for rear. right side of emblem to side ridge and bottom of emblem to rear ridge

      Thanks

      Jack

It is a 66 with BRG and metallic Glen Green from 65. So it is just the right color for me, and at least I have Corvette paint on it.

Finished the emblem job. Thought I would share some photos

Awesome sequence of photos, Jack. I love the snow-to-sun contrast, adds real context to the effort/time involved.

Great pictures! The color is stunning. Not long to go until blastoff. Looking forward to your reports from the road.

Just below the bank, waits for me all the time, if I don't show up, he pops in a seal for a snack.

Got the bumpers on. I am not very good at it , I am sure someone on my trip will show me how.

Getting read to head out for a ride.

                        Jack,
As you are traveling a great distance with a new application of paint (not cheap) on your baby, are you planning to use a "bra" to protect her from the bug attrition?

Hi, You know, I was thinking about it. I never have before, but I am sure that I will be traveling through some buggy environments. Any suggestions?

                            Jack,
It is really buggy down South. I have not yet used a bra on my "girl" but have considered it.

I do not have first hand experince with one, but I am hoping we will get some responses from those that do.

I'd like to know if there is any damage to a new paint "job" from a bra and also how effective it is in protecting the front end of the car?

I hope there is some experience out there in this area.

                              Jack,
I suppose the fresh paint vs. bugs is something to be considered. Perhaps the paint is "set" as much as it will be ever be thus no problem going bare.

I am unsure how fresh paint will handle either protection product but someone on the TDB will know.

Rather than a bra that can move against the paint and possibly mar it, particulary around the edges of the bra, will the 3M film or similar product be a better choice? It may depend on the brand of bra used. Speed Lingere seems to be the brand of choice on the late model cars; however, I do not know if they make one to fit the early cars. The film is supposedly removable, probably by whomever installs it.

Maybe all this is a moot point.

                              Enjoy the ride.

                              Best regards
