I am watching the live feed and saw the unrestored 6K mile 69 435 convertible sell for 210K! I guess there's no recession in San Diego! I also saw a blue/white 67 435 sell for 195 that I was told that had a resto motor. I can't wait to see what the red L88 sells for, my guess is 350K

Do you guys smell anything fishy? That's why I quit paying any attention to Russo and Myers Auctions, other than to look at the cars. I also understand that they just bought Kruse.

Paul, there is no doubt that there is a lot of smoke and mirrors at most auctions. I do know for a fact that the sale prices of the low mile 69 for 231K and the red L88 for 401.5K was legit in that I know who bought both cars.

Do you guys smell anything fishy? That's why I quit paying any attention to Russo and Myers Auctions, other than to look at the cars. I also understand that they just bought Kruse.

They DID NOT buy the company, just the real estate

The "R" in RM Auctions stands for Rob not Russo. Russo is the first part of the name of a different auction company.

You are correct Gary. RM= Rob Myers, and RUSSO & Steele is Drew Alcazar, two completely different Auction Companies. Both do a good job and have respect in the industry. Two very good people.

The 69 L71 was a silver/black convertible. I believe that it had full owner history, POP, and tank sticker. It is a real 6k mile car and is very nice original unrestored car. My 2cents is that the buyer got caught up in the moment and paid more than he said he would. Not the first time this has happened at auction and I'm sure that it will not be the last time either. I agree the price for the L88 was about right.

Wayne, the red L88 was a 1969 coupe. It is a low mile car that was dragged raced early in its life. It was owned by the original owner until 2005. It was then restored and received a Bloomington Gold and NCRS Top Flight award. It was also featured in the Corvette, The Sensous American book 1983 vol. 3. Car has great paperwork and the owner kept all receipts even the engine build receipt and decking of the block with dyno numbers when it was virtually new.
Jim, I do not have the vin of the L71 handy. If I come across it I will let you know.
