C1 Cowl Vent Seal Adhesive Application?

Can anyone shed any light on the application of adhesive for the cowl vent seal on a C1 car, particularly a 1960?

Should the adhesive be sloppily applied like it is with other seals throughout the car?

Currently, you can see a very small amount of amber glue around the seal.

Carl,
I was recently a n OJ for 58-60. The judges were satisfied with only a small amt of visible yellow adhesive. It did not have to be sloppy.
