correct heater hose config for '66 327/350hp

I have recently purchased new heater hoses for my '66 327cid 350hp and have both red and white ink-colored heater hoses. Can anyone tell me which color hose belongs to which position or does it even matter? If anyone has recently done this to their car could you help with some pics? Also, if being picky matters, is there a proper orientation that the hose clips are supposed to have, also for radiator clamps, which are dated?

this topic has been pretty well beaten to death, observable recently in the archives.
In an attempt to keep this simple and non-argumentative and not state what is right are wrong, I will say that from a judging perspective the small hose is expected to have the logos (strange, typically white, sometimes blue. Red is a new one).
The large hose has the ribs without logos.
Yes, there is a specific routing orientation, but, it would be impossible for me to attempt to explain when the AIM has a very clear diagram.

On this very topic, does the 66 AIM have a UPC 6 B1 sheet?

That I found referenced for these hoses, but that sheet does not exist in my copy of the AIM.

Yes, it does - that sheet shows the installation of the starter and upper and lower radiator hoses on the 300hp small-block.

I agree with Mike, mostly. For 66 and 67, the only ORIGINAL heater hose logo I've ever seen was on the small 5/8" hose. I've never seen an original 3/4" hose on a 66 or 67 with any logo.

The GM logo on the 5/8" hose for 66-67 was not exactly white. It was closer to a light silver/grey.

If I were to install any reproduction heater hose with GM logo on any of my cars, I would make sure the logo was on the bottom of the hose so no one would see it unless they (a judge) really looked for it.
There was absolutely no correct/incorrect clock position for the logo/hose when installed.

Not all 66-67's originally had hose with the GM logo. There were several different suppliers of hose to GM and some didn't have the logo.

I can tell you what to look for, has to be done with one of Jeff's broach busters - magnification - and its not printed in ink.

Yup, I have one of each. One with GM in ink stamp and one with grooves.

Most hose from the 60's and later had grooves for I.D.. I suppose the number of grooves, or possibly the width/position of the grooves would be the I.D. for the source/vendor.

I think ribs instead of grooves would be the ID in the 50's and possibly early 60's. Probably either grooves or ink stamp after that.

In late 65, the ink stamp characters changed to a "block" style character in silver/grey. Prior to 65, the characters were different but I don't remember the name/style of the characters.

I've never seen any color other than a subtle red/maroon on 65 and earlier. No white or yellow, as many of the reproduction hose has.

Exactly, there was a method to those grooves that identified rubber suppliers to GM. Back when, I looked at those as went to that company (local, now long gone) to get some exact hose. Curious what you see, can you get a close up picture?

Many decades ago, a complete "heater installation package" was available from GM for 63-67 Corvettes. It included everything needed to install in a heater delete car, including both size hoses and spring ring clamps. I ordered two packages and still have the hoses from one kit packed away up north.
The 5/8" hose has the silver/grey ink stamp and the 3/4" hose has the grooves.
The latest heater installation package available when I ordered mine was actually correct for 66-67 but was also used to service 63-65 so some items would be different than 63-65.

I've seen/had several NOS complete heater installation packages for various cars and trucks from the 50's and 60's that included the hoses. Very few had ink stamped hose. Most had ribs or grooves.

I'll see if I can dig out some pictures.

GM 3/4" heater hose with grooves, typical of 66 and 67. (and probably later, too)
