How much PSI does brake fluid see

What kind of pressure does all the fittings need to seal for the brake line assemblies.

it can get close to 2000 psi

      Thanks,
I never suspected it would be that high.

Yes, it definitely gets that high. You can purchase a gauge from Stainless Steel Brakes Corporation (and, likely, other sources) that connects to the bleeder fittings and allows you to measure the pressure. If you have lower-than-normal pressure in one of the two braking systems, then you can suspect that you still have air in that system.

          Steve -

As noted in the Assembly Manual, the brake system leak test in the plant ran the system to 1800-2000 psi for a minimum of 10 seconds; it was done on the Chassis Line, prior to Body Drop.

Actually, the reason why I was asking was that someone, some time ago, said he pressure tested the system with an air compressor. Then put some bubble detecting fluid on all the joints. This test could be done before the body drop.

But since these air compressors are around 125/150 psi, I suspect that this test is somewhat meaningless other than for looking for gross leakages.

I do like the idea of the bleeder screw gauge test.

              Steve:

If you do a THOROUGH soap check at 125 psig air pressure and observe no bubbles or fuzz leaks at the fittings, you should be "good to go". If you do have any leaks when you bleed the brakes or start driving the car, they should be very minor and easy to correct.

Use a good quality, water and oil free air source (filtered air) for your testing.......as auto brake systems do not appreciate either water or mineral oil.

I've got a 2 foot desicant air dryer so that should do the trick.

Do you pressure up with the calipers on line?

Also, the brake warning switch distribution block is a problem. Do you pressure up each of the master lines separately or put a 3 way junction at the master cylinder connection?
