Was the inside of the front wheel backing plate paint along with the balance of the front suspenion, semi gloss black?

Here's a quote from a previous thread:

"This is why the inboard side of backing plates is black and the brake shoe side is natural. The chassis black was applied to an entire "knuckle assembly" that included the drum, backing plate and hub."

I like that everything has a way when our cars were built, and the most of the ncrs guys remember of having searched for the correct way.

I have found that there a few things you get away with, and the inside of the backing plates would be one, cheating a little when we restore our cars, like the use of satin clear paint on those raw steel areas, we put so many hours in the resto of our cars,Its a shame to see them rust up in the months to come.Of coarse if where talking bowtie cars we don't touch them.

When I restored my car I asked many questions on the same line, but some areas I couldn't bring myself to leave areas in raw metal , so a few quick squirts of satin clean still looks good and no rust. this may or maynot get by some judges, but the points deduct is generally small. if your after the Duntov, then all of what I said goes to trash can. every point counts.

No problem, questions are good.

I had seen the MIRA report but there are things in there that are not considered correct by our standards and wanted to see what others were doing.

I also use Eastwood's Diamond Clear Satin.
