    Gauge can/housing paint

I am going to have the gauges restored for my 1960. I would like to just send the gauges to have them tested, calibrated, and restored as needed.

I would like to restore the housings and replace lens and bezels as necessary myself. Obviously to same a little $$$. Does anyone know where to get the green paint used to cover the inside of the gauge housings. There is a very light shade of green that covers the inside of the housings and some darker green that is also used.

I assume the paint must be for light reflection, so not sure if it is some kind of special paint, or if I can just match the shades with rattle can from Home Depot or the like.

    Thanks,
    Don

      Donald,

I did. Had to look in the shop for what I used and I think this is the one I settled on for my C-1 - "American Accents", by Rustoleum, "Leafy Green", #7934. I have another manufacturer's slight variance of shade in the shop as well, but pretty sure this is the one that was pretty near "dead nuts on" for me.

IMHO Leafy green isn't even close.

          Donald,

I did a Board search and found that this question was also addressed in Feb. 2004 by Gary Bramlett in which he recommended Laura Ashley color "Health Green 3", available at Lowe's. Comparing the color charts, it looks to closely match the Leafy Green that I also suggested. Color charts don't always represent the finished product well, but mine turned out great. But I would defer to Gary's more experienced recommendation - in case a half shade difference may exist between the two when actually applied.

          Hope this helps.

Bramlett - "I use Laura Ashley Home Colour Collection Satin Heath Green 3, #14049, which I bought in a spray bomb at Lowes. It's actually made by Valspar in Illinois."
