    Re: Interior Paint

Bill, years ago I used Eckler's interior paint for my 70's Saddle trim pieces and was very happy with it. Looks great and has adhered well to date.

They do still have the paint, and they show 66 green, but the can is now labeled Corvette America, so they obviously changed suppliers and/or formulas. The new paint may not be as good as the one I used, but I have no reason to believe it's any worse, either. Good luck

I know that PPG can mix the colors. I have taken original pieces to the jobber and had them scanned. Only thing you have to do is figure out if the paint needs to be semi gloss or flat, depending on what you are painting.

I purchased interior dye for my 57 dash pad last year from Corvette Central. The can also says "Corvette America", so they must be the prefered supplier for most all parts places now. The stuff seems to work well. It is very thin, as dye generally is, so you do many coats - 10 or more a few minutes apart, per the instructions to get it to cover. But it does cover, seems to be the correct Venetian Red in my case, and looks very good. One piece of advice though - make sure you clean the vinyl very well first. My dash pad was dark and gloomy looking, I just took it to be badly faded. Before painting I cleaned it with Simple Green and a brush, and the dark fank just rolled off it. So I sprayed it several times, until the residue was clear. The pad looked much better then, but was still faded.
So bottom line is I am happy with the results. Just be sure to super clean it first. And it took almost the entire can just to do my pad. -Dan-

I always went here, but for some reason the 66 interior isn't listed....

Sometimes they have the 'extra' pages (beyond page 1, basic exterior color chips) of the original books in their data base and other times they don't...

Once in a while you can skip a year forward or year backward in time and find the page 2 (and maybe other pages) of the paint catalog...BUT, you'll be presuming those are the same paints/color codes that were used in your target year. That's NOT always a safe assumption...

Here's the refinish interior chart for 1966 (printed in Chev Service News). There's two greens (don't know why they call it Glen green) in the Corvette columns; 2 different glosses.

Maybe these formulations could provide a starting point.
