    Decode 1967 Build Sheet

Guys, I was looking through some papers today and came across the build sheet that I removed from my '67 several years ago. I was wondering if some of you could decode some of the info printed and barely legible there. There is an ID # which appears to be 8 ? 857. The date received is 3/20/67. The exp. date of production is listed as 4/28/67. The order # is 00576. The zone # listed is 31 and the dealer appears to be 15. Does anyone have any idea from this information where the car might have been sold when new? Thanks in advance! Brooks Glover (2141)

    Brooks -

Zone 31 was the Birmingham, Alabama zone back then; try the "dealer codes" item near the top of the page and see if it lists the dealer.

The "Ident Number" was assigned by the plant when the order was accepted for production, and that's how the unit was identified and tracked before the VIN number was assigned (that didn't happen until the car was built, several days after the "Corvette Order" was printed). The "Ident Number" also appeared at the top right of the window sticker.

      Re: Decode 1967 Build Sheet

John, thanks for your reply. All I can read on the build sheet is dealer # 15 or it may be 150 something. My car is a convertible and I feel lucky that there was even a build sheet on the gas tank after so many years. Is ther a way to find out who dealer # 15 might have been back then? I live near Huntsville and this is where I purchased the vehicle in 1976. At that time Hill Chevrolet was the chevy dealer there. Again thanks in advance! Brooks Glover (2141)

Check out the section on this ncrs webpage where you can ask about dealer codes and zone. Also AL GREENING may have what you need.

James, thanks for your reply. I tried the dealer and zone database on the NCRS page and did not have any luck. I will email Al Greening and see if he can help. I will post what I find out. Brooks Glover (2141)

The Dealer number will be 3 digits. So it could be 015 or 15X.
Hill Chev was dealer # 255 per the dealer code site.

The dealer numbers were assigned alphabetically so the dealer you are looking for will be toward the beginning of the alphabet.

Please post your findings, if you can verify, on the DEALER CODES website so it is accessible to all.....

              Re: Decode 1967 Build Sheet

Stephen, thanks for your reply. The dealer code on the build sheet definitely has two numbers that are quite legible. They are 15. There may be another number but it is not very legible. I will look at it again. I guess it could be anything from 150 to 159. Is there any way to use the order # or anything else on the build sheet to determine which dealer might have gotten the car when it was new? If not I guess this could be the end of the line on this search. Thanks again! Brooks Glover (2141)

Too narrow your search further, the Dealer name would begin with a letter between "D" and "G". Maybe you could do an internet search for Chevy dealers with those letters located in AL and FL.

I'd search the dealer codes to determine about how much area is covered by the zone number first.
