Re: There's a New L76 On the Road
I am no longer using the stock unit, nor am I using the cast iron, L88 unit.
I am using an SFI 1.1 certified billet steel unit from PRW. It weighs 18 lbs.- Top

Re: PRW flywheel
Ram 98760 clutch kit. ARP 200-2802 flywheel bolts.
I had no intention of using neither a standard pressure plate nor a single friction material clutch disc. Most heavy duty clutch discs use 8 Marcel springs rather than the 5 found on standard duty discs. Using 8 springs allows the coil diameter to be smaller, enabling clearance between the flywheel bolt heads and the Marcel springs.
I did not try my old, standard Borg Warner clutch disc for fit with the ARP fasteners, but I'd bet that the low profile heads allow enough clearance to use a 5 Marcel spring clutch disc.
If you are thinking about using the ARP flywheel, be forewarned that its friction surface is ever so slightly further aft in the bellhousing than the stock, iron flywheel. This requires careful realignment of clutch fork pivot angle, otherwise your freeplay adjustment will be limited.Last edited by Joe C.; June 6, 2010, 05:52 PM.- Top
