I love my 988. Marlboro Maroon does seem to change color based on the lighting. Sometimes it looks pretty dark and murky.

I love the green which looks great as well with the saddle interior. Paint it the way you will enjoy the most! I personally would stay with the correct Corvette green.

      Jack,

The BRG surely looked great when I visited with you a year ago. Go with what pleases you. You seem to indicate there is a personal story linked to the BRG.

Thanks for the map. Your route takes you right by my place just north of Santa Fe on US 84/285. And yes there is a regional in Albuq. end of Sept., first of Oct. and my cars will be in it. Cheers.

There just might be. But that another story.

Here are some pictures I took today. Car is in paint booth and will be done by next weekend

Thanks again to all for your support.

Did you get the new car yet David?

I'm on the hunt for one of those bright green '75 Convertibles.

            Now those are rare!

              Jack,

Will drive to MA next week and inspect it. If it is what I think, I plan to purchase it.

I just got back from Painter. The car has been painted with base coat. Just 2 hours old. Lighting is bad in booth , but I wanted to post today's pictures.

Sat. he will do the clear coat. I will take pictures then. I will get the car back mid-week and start to put the interior back in and bumpers, lights etc.

Should have it on the road in two weeks.

Just got back from painter. These are photos of car with clear coat. Those are not distortions in paint but reflections of ceiling and side walls of paint booth. Car comes home on Wednesday

Hi Jim and all who have show an interest in my paint job. Well I picked the car up today.. 5 pm. Put on trailer and followed it home.

Here is what it looks like without any make up. Happy fella in last picture going into garage. Has not been this good looking in 30 years

Thanks all for your help. Oh by the way, since I was the guy who used sandpaper to polish my bumper, what do you suggest for polishing the trim, hubcap bases , windshield trim etc.

Thought I would ask first this time

                      Jack,

Congratulations! Looking good! Just curious, why no holes in the hood for the hood emblem? Are you a fan of the clean 65 / 67 look, or just haven't drilled the holes yet?

                          Hi Joe,

Painter filled in all the holes. We are starting fresh. The only trouble now , is , I am afraid to work on the car. Before the paint job, I just got to work, feet and arms everywhere.

I guess in a couple of days, I get use to a shinny car with paint on it.

It will make me work very carefully. As recommendation on polish for the trim and hubcap bases. Don;t want to scratch the stainless too much

I hope two weeks. But then again, I thought the restoration would take 5 months, instead, 5 years total.

Do you have your car yet?

My two cents worth. Agree with just about everyone else. Your car, you have to do what pleases you! There is something to be said about an original car though. Next opinion...not a big fan of the millano maroon, the marlboro maroon is a different story. Love that color. Also agree with Michael's comment earlier about mosport green. My favorite color for any midyear hands down!

Hi John, It was a tough decision. But as some have said, I am the one looking down the nose of the car every day. When I bought it 40 years ago, I did not buy the color, I bought the car.... Changed it 35 or so years ago and never looked back until I planned this trip.

As you can see, I tried, but after seeing it (maroon) on the car, well the rest is history.

I feel as a custodian of the car , I have kept it going for 40 + years and it is better shape now then 40 years ago when I bought it.

Original drive train, engine and pitted parts that I will hear about on this trip. But to those who love their favorite color , go for it, there are enough cars that have been preserved.

This one is going to hit the road and be seen on the highways of America as often as possible, and then my son, will continue on with it. First car he ever drove at 3 years old, siting on my lap.

Have a green summer and see you all " On the Road" I meant great summer............
