'66 Shifter console color

Question if factory ever used Black colored shifter console on a car that should have come w/ a matching interior color. For example, an original early '66 (Sept) car that came w/ Saddle leather interior (Tuxedo Black exterior) and is appropriately coded, but has a Black shifter console. Dash, Seats, Carpet are appropriately Saddle Tan. Did the factory ever run out and use what they had? Do like the contrast of Black shifter console as looks good w/ the Black glove department and Black gauge console. Any thoughts?
