I'm having a problem with the rear brake drums rubbing on the edges of the brake shoes on my '57. To clarify... the brakes aren't dragging, the edges are rubbing against the inside of the drum where the stud come through. I've tried putting washers to space them out a bit but that's not working. Today, I found another problem...the emergency brake will not engage. Just won't pull up or turn. Rear wheels still roll ok except for the rubbing mentioned above. Before I pull this all apart, any ideas and could both problems be related. Thanks in advance for any advice or suggestions.

Re: '57 Rear brake drums
It sounds like the brake shoes are to wide.
Can you measure and compare to the old ones or another set.
Possibly someone can post the proper with dimension.
As far as the e-brake goes that sounds like a separate issue. I would remove the cables and be sure everything is free and go from there.
Good luck.- Top
