    '65 fan shroud attachment bolt

Can someone post a photo of an original '65 small block fan shroud attachment bolt (used to attach the fan shroud to the core support)? I was told last weekend at the Heartland Regional that the ends of these bolts are supposed to be rounded or pointed. The six that I have on my car now have flat ends. Also, the original head markings would be helpful too.

    Thanks.

Here's a recent thread about it.

I deleted the pictures but I can take another if you like.
Obviously you ran into a judge that doesn't know what he's talking about. Precisely why I don't plan on having my car judged. I know what's correct and I'd get pizzed off losing points on correct parts.

      Anthony,

what are the headmarkings on your bolts? WB, L RSC, SBC, UR, those are just a few of the original flat tip shroud bolts used in 65.

          Tony,

can you post a picture of the headmarking? WB is the only bolt they repro for this with a flat tip. BUT they are easy to spot. Anyhow WB's are 100% correct for this application. Are all 6 WB's and how bout the upper center attaching bolt?

Rich. I'll see what I can do. The problem is the head markings are difficult to see when the hood is up.

I talked with Richard Fortier yesterday about this and he seemed to believe that the correct bolts would have a butt end and not pointed. I'm not sure what the real answer is. I guess unless someone can show me an original example of a pointed bolt used to attach the fan shroud to the core support, I'm inclined just to leave mine as-is.

              Tony -

The only other application for that bolt is the vertical attachment of the leg on the rear crankcase vent pipe to the tapped boss on the aluminum intake manifold on an L-76, and I can't imagine that being a pointed bolt. It was also used to attach the proportioning valve to its support bracket on J-56 cars, but you hardly ever see one of those; that illustration clearly shows it as a blunt-end bolt.
