58-60 Fender Side Spears

Has anyone used the reproduction side spears, the ones in the cove in the fender? If so, how would you rate them.

I have the ones off my 1960 project car, but they are pitted and need to be restored which is am sure will cost significantly more than a reproduction set. Paragon has the whole set with backer plates and all for $166.

About 10 years ago I bought a repro set from one of the suppliers and was pleased with the quality. Back then I think I paid about $125. 3 years ago I got no hits at the Florida Regional. Still look new today.

I sold my originals to someone, which were nice unpitted, just faded chrome with all studs intact. I think I got about $60 for the set.

I would imaging rechroming your originals would cost about $15-20 each these days, and wait about a month or two to get them back. Chances are you'd loose the sharp edges in the buffing process though, and what if they break a stud off of a few in the process.

Today, I'd just go for the repros.......
