    63 amp/volt gauge

Any suggestions on a 63 amp gauge where the needle is a bit of a blur when at speeds below about 1500 rpm? Above that the needle is stable and solid. At idle and lower than 1500 rpm is not stable and hard to read it moves/flickers so much. Replace/rebuild the gauge or?

    thanks,
    John

    John,
If the gauge is stable and reads correctly above 1500, it is probably not your gauge. I would look at the alternator/regulator. In 63 the regulator was a seperate box, like the older generators. Your regulator may be having a problem at low speeds when the charging current drops off. If you have a DVM try measuring the battery voltage at low RPM. You may find that is fluctuating also. -Dan-
