65 base engine car factory sidepipes

Are there documented cases of a 65 327/300 hp car (St. Louis build) being built with factory sidepipes? The JTM refers to certain VIN for sidepipes installation but it makes no mention of BB or SB. I was led to believe that the factory did not provide sidepipes on C2 base engine cars through 1966.

I don't believe that you could get sidepipes on the base motor car (327/250 HP) in 1965. You could get them on the 327/300 HP in 1965 and you could get them on the base motor in 1966.

There's a very nice example of a base motor '66 with sidepipes here in Austin. It was at Killeen last October and it was at Bloomington last year, also. It was awarded Top Flight and four part Survivor. Truly a strange optioned car with base motor, sidepipes, KO wheels and goldline tires.

Right; '65 dealer order form says: available with 4-speed transmission and optional motor. I believe the reason is that they only produced the small block side pipes to fit the 2 1/2" exhaust manifolds, prior to '66. Because of this, the automatics and the base engine 250hp were eliminated, as they had 2" manifolds.
