David I have been driving a 1985 since 1992. Still enjoy it. My wife and I agree that the seats are very comfortable for us, even on long trips. Like the 85's seats better that the optional seats in my 96 LT4. Use 87 gas and no problems in performance. The R12 air conditioning system is great. Just over 100K on it now, original motor, transmission, and rear end. Bose radio was repaired, it is real easy to remove though.
With only 35K on the one you are looking it, it should give you a lot of miles.
I really like the way mine handles.

I agree, the C4s do look great. Though I prefer the later C4s, the early C4s definitely look like a toned down C3. The early C4s have the Kamm back similar to the chrome bumper C3s and a similar front end to the 80-82 C3s.

I personally think my C4 looks very dramatic - every bit as much as my C2:

I'm back to let everyone know I purchased the C4 with 35,000 miles. Inspected it yesterday and it is a lot nicer than I garnered from the pictures and conversations. It runs strong and has some extra parts including the original date coded wheels and tires. The previous owner purchased an extra set of rims and put Falcon tires on them. For the price, condition and my intent to have a nice driveable car, I think I did OK. Thanks to all who gave me advice on this purchase.

Looks like the run down here to civilization is going to be a piece of cake. Good luck with you new car. Fun to drive , comfortable a/c what more can you ask for.

I get my car back tomorrow, and will start to put all the interior and exterior parts back on.

Hope to see you before I leave on my trip

The clam shell hood reminds me of the old cab-over-tilt diesel rigs from the 50's - 70-s. White, Diamond T, Autocar, Dodge, Mack, International, Brockway, GMC, Reo.
Funny you should say that as the clam shell hood always reminded me of the D Type Jags, Ferrari's and Maserati's.

Bose radios have had their share of problems with the individually amplified speakers.

Early C4s have issues with instrument clusters, in some cases.

Sport seats are problematic. Avoid them.

If the ECM has its original PROM chip, it should be upgraded to the service replacement which appeared in 1986.

                      No, Peter, never.
I bought my '85 new, and the 4+3 received so much bad press at that time, that I opted for the 700-R4. I have no regrets, and especially like the stump-pulling 3.08 1st gear. Easily lights up the tires.

the expensive to replace clam shell hood is one reason why a C-5 cost less than a C-4 to insure as i found out when i went to get insurance on my new 97 C-5. the bolt on fenders are also a reason a C-5 is cheaper to insure as GM contacted insurance companies when designing the C-5 to help lower the insurance costs. be glad you don't own a viper as that clam shell hood cost over $11 grand to replace.

very clean! David, I hope you get many miles of enjoyment out of your new ride (but not too many miles as to affect the value).
                            Enjoy!

I have had several Corvette related dealings with Rick Capone over the past several years and I can tell you that he is a stand up guy. He is a very knowledgeable Corvette enthusiast and a straight shooter. While I have not seen his 85 Corvette personally, I have seen many photos of the car over the past several months. It sure looks like a great car to me and I would not hesitate to purchase a Corvette from Rick.

Good luck with your new C4.
