    Recommendations for Interior Vendors

I'm planning on doing the interior of my '63 SWC: seats, carpet, vinyl trim, door panels, etc... I know some providers are better than others... I would appreciate some thought and experiences as to who is the best folks to buy from...

    Thanks,

    Joel

As with most specialty items there are only a few manufactures, every one else buys from them. Al Knock is one and my pick

Al did my seats this last winter meet here in Orlando. I am very pleased because that was all I wanted/needed to be done as my buns had gone soft and I had a rip in the driver's seat due to an old seat cushion (with wire coils inside). I was concerned about the seats matching my existing door panels and center arm rest which are still as new. They came out perfect, at least to my eye. Next year I may have them do my carpeting which too is still original. It is showing some W and T in driver's side foorwell, but on that I am sure it may be more difficult to match the carpeting on the door panels, and for that matter the rear storage area. It is still good, but is not likely to match if for no other reason than fading.

        Joel,

I did the same project on my '64 coupe two years ago. Everyone has excellent things to say about Al Knoch, but I had been hearing good things about Corvette America and that they had re-tooled their factory.

Being from PA and their facility only about an hour away, I visited the plant and was given a tour of their facility. By doing this, I was actually able to see the product before purchasing it. I was also able to save on the shipping cost and avoid potential damage during shipping. Plus at the time, their pricing was better.

I found the door panel and headliner fit to be excellent. All the holes lined up including transfer of my hardware, with the exception of the hockey moulding. I had to drill a couple holes for it to fit properly.

The carpet fit well. The only drawback is that they pre-cut for the seat rails and I would have preferred to have made those cuts myself.

The vinyl pattern looks accurate to me based upon comparison with other '64's.

I would definitely buy from them again. They were patient, very easy to work with and delivered a quality product in my opinion.

Al Knoch would be my choice. My carpets were beyond expectation.

I just sent back an ACC carpet kit. Once again my order goes to Al Knoch.

Another vote for Al Knoch. Great customer service if you need help or just have questions before or after your purchase.

                Thanks all!!

Looks like it will be Al Knoch... When I did the interior on the '65 I went with Al's seat covers... and they were fine... I used Corvette America door panels (I suspect before the retool) and they were OK but not great. Over the last few months, I have heard other commentary about other vendors so I wanted to check in and see what the current wisdom was.. Thanks again!
