    C1 Transmission and NCRS Judging

How important, points wise, is the casting dates on a C1 T10 transmission? I have incorrect later aluminum transmission in my 1960 and will be looking for a correct transmission. My car is a November 1959 build, so must I find a transmission that pre-dates November 59? If I can't what will it cost me in judging if I use a transmission with casting date later than November '59?

    Thanks,

At least from a judging perspective, you are likely to be the only one who will ever know.

I suspect that the aluminum case will give you away. Casting dates are not checked, but if a judge sees a basic configuration that does not match what should be there, I could see the possibility of a total deduction for transmission. Not sure what a transmission is worth in points.

This may be of interest to you.

if you have to use an alum case t-10, a light coating of cast blast might be the ticket. mike

Actually I am going to get a correct cast iron transmission. I was just wondering if the casting date was important.

Should not be hard to find a correctly dated cast iron powerglide. Lots of passenger cars used them; then you just need to Corvette specific tail housing, neutral safety switch, etc.
