    BB Radiator

I have a 69 vette big block brass radiator, on one of the tank ends there is a J with a 5 under it

the tag reads 76C with the correct part number

Can someone tell me what these numbers mean

    Paul -

The "76C" is the assembly date for the radiator - March, 1976, and the side tank stamped J5 was made in September, 1975.

John, I have a tag on my '70 that reads MH9 - can you decode that date? See picture attached. Steve

The brass radiator in my 70 BB has part number 3019190 and date code 77H on the metal Harrison tag. The part number being correct for my 454 ci engine. According to John's answer above, I believe that date would translate to August, 1977. However, there is no radiator listed in the Chevrolet parts manual for a 1977 Corvette with part number 3019190. The manual shows that part number for a 69 w/427 and 70-72 w/454. So, is the one I have for a different Chevy vehicle or what?

MH is the "broadcast code" for that radiator. It is not a date. Some Chevrolet P&A books have a sheet that gives the dimensions for the various radiators using that "broadcast code."

My guess: A SERVICE REPLACEMENT made in August 1977.

Thanks Terry. Is the '9' part of the broadcast code? Steve

I think it is, but I have no time to check my reference material. Others may chime in with their 2 cents.
