Looking for the correct side cover #/stamping for a '65 M20 transmission. Maybe a source for one in case mine is incorrect. thanks Blake

A 1964-65 4-sp Muncie would have 3831707 cast on the upper right quadrant of the shifter sidecover. No stampings on this part. Lots of 'em on eBay.- Top

Some things to keep in mind:
1) Many used side covers might not be a good buy. These covers can develop cracks, usually from hard shifting which many transmissions suffered. This is especially true of these early covers which were not as strong as later. The problem is cracks can be hard to identify since these covers are a die casting and die castings normally have casting marks which look like cracks but are not;
2) The 1969-74 covers are certainly not correct for a 1965, but they're stronger and better.In Appreciation of John Hinckley- Top
