I am getting ready to stamp my new block on my 103062 VIN# (1/28/60 birthdate) and the JG says that around mid January 1960 they changed the stamp for the month of January from "I" to "0I". Presuming that the engine assembly date was seven to 10 days earlier than the vehicle assembly, I'm guessing that my month date stamp should be "0I" correct? Do you have any more information that pins down this transition date more exactly? Thanks.
    Keith,
Car #3047 has an assembly stamp of "FII2CQ" (Jan. 12th) Car #3628 is stamped "F0II8CQ" (Jan. 18th). So that lines up with the JG. Your car and #3047 were built the same day. I would think that yours would have been stamped using the single digit format for the month.

Thanks very much Jim. That's extremely helpful. I'm going to stamp it the same day as #3047. If it's not too much trouble, could you email me a photo of the pad stamp? My email is: kmacrae9@comcast.net. I'd greatly appreciate it. By the way, does your collection of stamps include the 1958 model?

      Best,

      Keith

Sent you the pic. I don't have any 1958's. Just interested in the hand stamped 1960's.

Thanks Jim! I appreciate it. The broach marks appear indistinct yet I presume that you're confident that this is an original stamp? Appreciate it.

You're welcome. Glad I could help. I'd bet it's original. These 50 year old pads were never originally painted so to see that corrosion has erased the broach marks is very common. In fact, I would question one that has distinct broach marks.
