I'm preparing my 64 road race car Fuel Injection unit to go back on the race car. I have the air meter apart and I'm looking at the "hot Idle Compensator' and wondering why I should put that device in the air stream for a racing only engine. I have been porting and tweeking air flow passages so this question came to mind. I haven't used an FI system in pure racing so I was wondering if any of you experts had an opinion about this?? Jerry

Jerry, Smart thinking. Remove rthe hot idle compensator. Re-install just the two small fillister head screws using locktite so they don't come out. For the big hole run an 1/8-32 tap thru the hole and put in a short screw. Again use loctite. The tapped hole is not going to hurt anything in case someday you want to re-install the hot idle compensator for bumper to bumper street traffic. I thought you sent the unit out for rebuilding?
