    Protecting a TI system

When I connect a remote switch to the starter for ease of service I have been disconnecting the coil wire, unplugging the TI amp and turning on the ignition switch. To protect the ignition system and prevent the car from starting which of these are necessary? To me the single easiest item is unplugging the TI amp since I would not have to remove the ignition shielding, is that enough? Is turning the key switch completely unnecessary? It seems I heard somewhere that the ignition switch could get fried as well in some cases.

    Thanks.

all i ever did when adjusting valves using a bump button on TI equipped corvettes was unplugged the TI feed wire from the wiring harness
