    66 427/425 head identification

I would like to purchase a correct pair of heads for a 66 427/425. What are the numbers and dates that I should be looking for?

    Regards,

Heads were casting number 3873858. As far as dates go, within 6 months prior to the car's build date will be considered NCRS correct (not that anyone will be able to discern the dates, anyway). I'd look for heads that are dated APPROXIMATELY the same as the block (but prior to the engine build date).

Every time I see the name Rowley Corvette I'm reminded of my absolute favorite place to eat steamed clams in the whole world----East End Seafood Restaurant which used to be right next door. Alas, East End is long-gone, replaced by All American Barbecue.

As far as dates, so far I've only ever seen 858's dated either earlier in the '66 model year (I or J), or about mid way, and I can't remember what the dates were on the mid way's. I've heard that these were not cast all year long but in batches, and so don't beat yourself up looking for a date that isn't going to exist.

The heads should have no provision for temp. sender on the heads and should have the small (I think 1/4-20 threads) for the spark plug sheilds.
My engine is stamped T0310 IP and the heads were cast A266.
