    Opinions on this 69

Any thoughts on this car? Lots of options, assuming original drivetrain. I haven't seen the car in person yet. priced at 25,500

I got a problem with my pics. I'll try again.

      Hi Keith,
Red convertible, 4 speed, a/c. NICE!
I guess the drive-train 'assumption' and a thorough check for rust on the frame and birdcage are pretty important factors in it's value.
What do want the car to be? Driver? Flight?
What do you think it needs to be that car?
      Regards,
      Alan

Good questions Alan. There lies my problem. I am restoreing a 70 LT-1. I started looking for a nice driver. I want a good lookinig car that I can drive to Carlisle if I want. 7 hr trip. This looks like it could be L46. Don't know if I want that compression. Maybe I would be better off with 71-72. I haven't found a 4sp ac car yet in my price range. THis car is at the top of that. BUT, If it is numbers match L46 red red leather vert, with ac ps pb tilt tele and 4sp it would be nice to have. I have some other pics that shows pittng on some trim and faded carpet. THe under hood lookslike it could use some detailing. I don't mind some work but I got two more project Camaros besides the LT-1. Maybe judgeing down the road but not on the front burner.
Dick I think it is an E build.
And it is coded for red? red Leather.
And the ac was converted in 08 and he says is cold.

Whatever the F "numbers match" means, [b]BUT[/b} there is NO red leather from the factory in 1970-1972, so forget that one.

                    Small and easily corrected items:

                    AIR system has been removed.

I don't know where they got that alternator; it does not even look like a Delco-Remy-manufactured piece.

Seat belts have been replaced with incorrect black webbing.

Master cylinder cap looks to be painted black

Wiper door actuator must have been re-finished and is way too shiny (and with label)

Tach and speedo appear to have white numerals, which began in 1972. But it is hard to tell from the picture.

It's a very nice looking old Corvette in the PICS.

Ignition shielding looks like a cross between BB and SB and has been painted black but it could just be the PIC. Car's probably had a good bit of paint work, hood pins have been painted. Looks like the black paint crawled off the M-cylinder onto the cap, replacement shifter and ball.

Looks like the usual stuff for a car that's been driven and enjoyed. Wait a minute, that can't be it, nobody actually drives these cars...do they?

                        Good luck with your search!

I had a friend who happens to work 7 miles from the car look it over. Good news is he said the car looks really good. Only surface rust on the frame and wear and tear. Bad news is the block is decked. Casting is 3932386.
Now for a nice driver which is what I want is it worth 25 grand. I found another 69 with two tops. NOM. and a non original blue color on a green coded car. 4sp AC that does not work. 7 to 8 k less money.
I might make a rosd trip to see for myself.

No, but it might be worth around $16k, at least that's what I see on the sales web sites. Let it sit for a couple of weeks and see if it's still there. If it is then talk to the owner and see if he's flexible on the price. This is not the time of year to buy convertibles, boats, or motorcycles.

Keith, certainly no expert, but have messed around with some 69's, and have one going for a Duntov in July. Since I am close by and have time on my hands, I'd be happy to look at the car with you. Hank Hale 46075
