69 factory primer

Did the factory use fill over the bonding seams before red primer
I have removed the paint from my 69 and there is fill on the bonding seams under the red primer
any help would be great

Hi Paul,
From looking at my 71 I'd say not typically. I believe this is why the seams show through original paint in such distinct patterns

If defects (pinholes, etc.) showed up in the grind booth where the bond seams were ground flush prior to the prime booth, a polyester filler material (called "putty rub" in the plant) was applied to the seams and they were ground again; that may be what you've found.
