I am looking for a Big Block 65 66 67 Vet engine and I am wondering what would be a reasonable cost for this? Any input appriciated. I would like to get an almost complete package (ie starter, intake, heads, carb), rather than just starting with a bare block so I can focus on other parts of the resto. Also, any info on good sources for this, someone with a good stock to select from, would also be helpful. (FYI, going to use this in a car while the org engine is being redone and then saved aside.) Thanks Tony

Re: Need input on cost/market of mid year BB engine
What HP?
Period correct castings/numbers and date codes for block/heads/starter/carb(s)/exhaust, etc. (any or all of these?).
Why not purchase a crate engine and "dress" it up with valve covers/air cleaner to get a period correct look?- Top

I would say it would NOT be out of line if someone was wanting way in excess of $10K for a complete correct big block for a midyear. I have seen where you only get block, crank and heads for $10,000. Very expensive depending on exactly what you are looking for.

Dennis Tracy at Tracy performance has more engine blocks (and other compnents as well) than just about anyone in the country. Not going to be cheap, but VERY possible he may have what your looking for.- Top

I'd say just get the original engine done... Anything other than a tired out BB truck motor is going to cost you a LOT of $$$ to slap into your engine compartment for that 'interim' period!- Top
