air cleaner clean up

Anyone know a way to clean or whiten an air cleaner element without destroying it ?

Roy, sorry but that's dust, dirt, pollen, oil mist, etc. It can't be done. Get a new one, there is just no other way. Bill

I have heard of people that have cleaned up those expensive 212 filters. I believe they soak and then reapply the oil to it but am not sure what they use. I would think that it is a fairly risky proposition because at what point does 40 year paper give way?

Air blow dirt and spray Bleach to get white

It's not supposed to be white.

They were "oil wetted" and as a result a yellowish tint is normal. Now, yours is original and a bit dirty but you will only have problems if you try and clean it.
