68 door handle

Is there an easy fix for this door handle that is sticking up past flush? I'm not going to replace them at this point.

James it has been over 20 years since I have had my 68's door panel off, so cannot remember how well you can see the bottom of your door handle when the door panel is removed. If I remember correctly there is a "stop" for the upward lift of the handle. Again, going from memory, I took a stainless steel tip that covered the eraser of mechanical lead pencil and slipped it on the door handle's "stop". This adjusted the "stop".

I used a length of stainless steel wire to create a "stop" to prevent the handle portion from coming up as far due to wear slop created over the years. It actually worked.
