    69 accelerator cable

I have noticed some 69 3x2 engines have a cable with a red colored section near the carbs while other do not. "reproductions" offered by reputable parts suppliers seem to be all black. Can somone tell me which is correct, if it is an early/late issue, etc? Thanks

The cable used for most 1969 3X2 applications was different than that used for other 1969 applications. The 3X2 cable was GM #3973861. This is the cable with the "reddish" plastic "ferrules" (probably as an aid to assembly line ID). Very early 1969 3X2 may have used the same cable as used for all other 1969 applications as well as all later 1968 application, GM #3934091. The latter cable is all black.

Hi Hank, my July '69 3x2 has the red/orange cable. I don't know of a vendor that sells anything but the black.
      Cheers, Graeme.
