    66 Pwr Antenna died......

Well it's been there for 44 yrs and worked fine till this weekend. Factory orginal antenna. I checked the fuse and fuse box - all good. I checked the switich connection and the connector under dash with Volt Meter - all good. When attached, no movement, no sound - nothing.

Raised the car on the lift and gather I'm going to have to check the connection for power at the exhaust end. Have under car exhaust, so it looks like I have to loosen left mufler and rear valance to up plug connector...........

Any other thoughts before I tackle this little project. thanks....

Keith, If you can get to the connector and verify voltage the yes, muffler removal will give access to remove the antenna. This came up here a few weeks back, might be worth a check of the archives.

You might try giving the motor a tap or two before you remove it. The brushes probably have a pretty good buildup on them and they can get stuck.

Keith, the ground should also be looked at if the motor uses the frame for a grounding point, rust can sometimes be a problem.

          Antenna-Problem solved.......thanks

Greg and others, thank-you very much for all the tips. Greg before I pulled the Antenna, I gave it a few taps with a wooden handle hammer and bingo....the antenna works again. Lubed it up, ran it up and down several times and works perfect. After 44 yrs , its perfectly straight and the oil coating on the housing and motor is still evident and preserving things well..........hopefully it goes for a few more years.

          thanks again guys.........
