I am preparing my 65 fuel car for PV. It's pretty much and original car is great shape, except for the soft top weather strips, which were ready for retirement.
I have purchased and installed a new soft top weather strip kit. I am perplexed, however as to what the correct fitment is for the two side windows relative to the weather strips they contact, that is, where the the top edges of the window glass and rear vertical edges of the glass mate with the corresponding weather strips.
The soft top weather strips that mate with the side windows have a channel in them. On the inboard side of the channel, there is a larger, more robust piece of rubber. On the outboard side of the channel, there is a smaller, thinner "flap".
If the door is open and the window glass is fully rolled up and then the door is subsequently closed, the window glass then squishes this outboard flap into the weather strip channel, with the window glass now outboard of this flap. Here is my question. If the window is subsequently rolled down while the door is still closed, and then rolled back up, is the window glass then supposed to fit into the weather strip channel such that the outboard flap of the weather strip is now outboard of the window glass?
I hope this question makes sense to someone!
Thanks!
