    C2 Dash Installation

I'm getting ready to remove the dash from my 64 convertable in preparation for removing the body from the frame. I read in several posts that the center section of the dash below the radio is glued to the transmission tunnel. Can anyone tell me what adhesive was used by the factory or what adhesive should be used to reattach it? I'm always reluctant to take something apart unless I have a plan for putting it back together.

The factory used the same adhesive that the body is put together with. That was a polyester product, but unless you just want to use it, an epoxy product would be better.

I used a wide (4") putty knife to break the bond on mine and got it out in one piece. And then used JB Weld to "glue it) back in. I always thought JB Weld was a gimmick until I found this board several years ago and found how many experienced restores use it. My center section passed a pretty rigorous pull after it set-up.

Thanks guys. If you are still reading, I understand from the photos that the 3 points that are glued are 2 on each side of the "U" shaped bracket, and 1 that apparently is on the knob that must be directly under the front face of the dash. If so do you push the putty knife between the inside of the sides of the dash and the outside of the "U" bracket? To break it loose from the "knob" what do you do, force the putty knife around the perimeter knob?

Doug my dash came out with the "U" shaped piece firmly attached. All I had to do was drive the putty knife under it slowly and carefully tapping with a hammer from front to back at an angle and it popped loose without any drama.
