1990 and 1988 rims are they the same ?

Are the rims for 1988 thru 1990 the same style and size?

I believe on the 17" wheels the on 88 and 89 are the same. The 90 looks similar at first glance but is different in the lug nut area. You can see there is no lig nut cover center in a 90 wheel. The lugs are exposed.

Also in 88, there was a 6 slot 16" standard wheel.

Yes, that's how it was. The 88-89 wheels used a center hub cover which covered the entire lug nut area giving the wheels a "smooth-across-the-face" appearance when the hub cover was installed.

The 1990 wheels, while otherwise similar in configuration to the 17" 88-89 wheels, used a hub cover which covered only the center hole. The lug nuts were covered with individual plastic, screw-on caps.
