Have a March 25, 1966 build date on my 66. I want to start looking for a carb. Wanted to know what date the carb should be. I have a replacement Holley 3367 on it now. 327-350hp no a/c, 4speed. Thanks, Joe DeLuca

Re: carb date
A "typical" date would be 2-8 weeks prior to the car's final assembly date, but the standard allows up to six months prior.- Top

Re: carb date
I would go to the C2 Registry and see if you can find a car close to your vin and see if they have their original carb and what the date is. My 66 is a March 4th build, the date on my original carb is Nov 1965. I also know of another March 4th buillt car (within 50 cars of my vin) with the same Nov 1965 dated carb. I figure some of this stuff was built in lots and who knows how long they sat around untill another lot was needed. Oh and both my car and the other car are L79's but this carb was used on the 300 hp and 350 hp cars.- Top

Re: carb date
My first 1966 small block was a 327/300 coupe (VIN#16401), A.O Smith body (A-3102). The car's build date was H02 (March 2nd). I was the second owner and the car was EXTREMELY original. At some point, the original carb went bad, so the first owner swapped it out for a functional replacement. When I bought the car, the first owner threw in the original carb. I had it rebuilt and put it back on the car. The original carb's date code was 624 (February, 4th week, 1966).
